- colloquial A problem that is very difficult to solve.
- vulgar (''Exchange Alley'') One who contracts to deliver a certain quantity of sum of stock in the public funds, on a future day, and at stated price; or, in other words, sells what he has not got, like the huntsman in the fable, who sold the bear's skin before the bear was killed. - transitive To carry something.

- transitive To put up with something.
- transitive To give birth to someone or something.
- transitive To produce or yield (e.g. fruit, crops.)
- intransitive To be in a specific direction from the observer's position.
- Ex: ''The harbour '''bears''' N by NE.''
