Business Definition for: ISO 9000

  • a series of international quality management system standards. ISO 9000 provides a framework that can be used by any size or type of organization to develop a quality system. It lays down a general set of principles about good management practice, which identify the basic disciplines and specify criteria to ensure that products and services meet customers' requirements. The framework enables the measurement of consistency of an organization's systems for dealing with customer orders, purchasing, stock control, service provision, and service delivery. Requirements for certification include written quality procedures, regular management reviews, control of documentation, traceability, internal auditing, and the provision of training.
