Business Definition for: Human Factors Engineering

  • the analysis of human needs and abilities in the design of workplace activities, facilities, and systems in order to optimize employee performance. Human factors engineering uses ergonomics in the design of the workplace and strives to offer a better choice of computer software by obtaining a fit between human operators and the equipment or technology that they are using. In this way, human factors engineering tries to reduce risk by raising safety levels, and to produce cost savings by improving performance.
