Business Definition for: Interest-only Mortgage

  • a long-term loan, usually for the purchase of real estate, in which the borrower only pays interest to the lender during the term of the mortgage, with the principal being repaid at the end of the term. It is thus the borrower's responsibility to make provisions to accumulate the required capital during the period of the mortgage, usually by contributing to tax efficient investment plans.
